Learning styles refer to the preferred ways in which individuals process information and learn new concepts. Learning preferences are the specific methods or strategies that individuals favour when engaging in the learning process. Recognising and understanding these styles and preferences can help educators design and implement more effective and personalised instructional strategies.

Common Learning Styles

  1. Visual Learners
    • Characteristics: Prefer to see and visualise information. They benefit from diagrams, charts, videos, and written instructions.
    • Teaching Strategies: Use visual aids like graphs, mind maps, infographics, and color-coded notes. Incorporate visual representations of concepts and encourage note-taking and drawing.
  2. Auditory Learners
    • Characteristics: Learn best through listening and speaking. They benefit from lectures, discussions, audio recordings, and verbal explanations.
